This document is not simply a "personal recommendation" per se, but is rather a comprehensive summary of a student's academic achievement and functional performance within a high school setting. It is a two-part summary of the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and the student's own opinion about his/her educational experience and of his/her goals for the future.
The Summary of Performance serves three purposes.
We propose that there are presently two distinct approaches to fulfilling the Summary of Performance (SOP) obligation as mandated in IDEA-2004 - the narrative and the standardized. Our White Paper provides
a rationale for using the Standardized SOP.
